Nevertheless, many waitresses who have worked there have achieved huge success through the company’s yearly bikini pageants and famous calendars which are published for charity. It’s hardly a surprise that the Hooters brand has come under fire for its use of sex appeal to sell a product, and many believe that it’s a concept that belongs in the 80s and 90s. The company’s biggest selling point is the waitresses who became known as the Hooters Girls who became recognizable by their uniforms of tight vests and orange shorts. Hooters America now owns 160 restaurants and franchises over 430 establishments.
